History of U.S. Troop Deployments

I’m happy to share the updated dataset on U.S. troop deployments in the form of a dedicated website www.ustroopdeployments.com. Work on this data has been ongoing for two decades and is probably the most cited research I’ve ever done. I certainly get more requests for the “latest” updates, so figured it would valuable to have permanent home base for it.

I’m also publishing a companion working paper that you might find interesting, which will be up at SSRN and as a Hoover paper shortly. I’ll paste in the first thousand words of text for subscribers — also happy to share the PDF if you really would like a sneak peak. Just send me an email.
